Hi there! I’m Shannon, the human behind The Loophole Fox.
When I’m not designing crochet patterns or writing blog posts, you can find me hanging out with my husband, playing video games, drinking tea, baking and, of course, crocheting. My husband and I have two cats and a dog, all of whom were rescues from unfortunate situations.
I’ve always been creative from a young age and I found that creating (painting, crocheting, writing, etc) gave me an outlet to express my emotions, process them and grow into a happy and healthy adult.
My creative outlet has always been important to me because my childhood was very turbulent due to absent parents. I have seen and lived first hand what it is like to be a child or teenager in less than stellar conditions. I’ve been the youngling wondering where my next meal will come from, how I’ll stay warm that night, or who will be there to guide me through lifes twists and turns.
Helping people has always been a second nature for me. Whether that is grabbing dinner for a friend because they’re too sick to cook, purchasing shoes or clothing for those in need, being a listening ear or a voice of logic, or participating in relief efforts for those who have lost everything (I’m in California, think wildfires).
When I started this blog and crochet business mid-2019, I imagined myself letting go of a corporate Sales Manager position, being my own boss and sharing my love of creativity with others. What has happened, though, is it has heightened my ever growing need to help others.
In July of 2020, it struck me. This little thought that crept up through the yarn and into my head: I can use this platform to help others on a more significant level. That is my calling, that is my purpose.
With this thought planted firmly in the garden of my mind and growing flowers, I decided that from that moment forward, all of my patterns would be geared toward helping people.
This could mean something as simple as helping you create something nice for yourself, a friend or family member, or as deep as helping others find the right items to create to donate to women’s shelters, NICU hospital wings, children’s charities, etc.
If you’ve been here for a while, you know that in the past I have donated portions of profits to the World Wildlife Fund (which I also deeply care about) and I am very excited to continue growing this “purpose” and to work together with you to make the world a better place.
I am so excited to have you join me.
With love in every stitch,
